Infant Baptism

Holy Baptism is the basis of the whole Christian life, the gateway to life in the Spirit (vitae spiritualis ianua), and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as sons of God; we become members of Christ, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in her mission: “Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the word.”

 – (CCC 1213).

Your child’s initiation into the Roman Catholic Church requires that you attend a preparation class, be registered in the parish, and prepare yourself for the continuing responsibility of raising your child as a Catholic. Our parish offers baptismal preparation classes for parents and godparents seeking baptism for infants and children.

Classes are held inside the Church on the second Friday of every month, at 6:30pm in English and at 7:30pm in Spanish. Parents and godparents are expected to attend the class.  Baptisms are held the second Saturday each month at 11am in Spanish, and the second Sunday at 12 noon in English. Parents and godparents must register to attend these classes. For more information, contact the parish office.

Adult Baptism

Since the beginning of the Church, adult Baptism is the common practice where the proclamation of the Gospel is still new. The catechumenate (preparation for Baptism) therefore occupies an important place. This initiation into Christian faith and life should dispose the catechumen to receive the gift of God in Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.

Teens and adults of 18 years of age or older who have never been baptized are prepared for the Sacrament of Baptism, Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation through the process of R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). Parishioners wishing to enroll in an English study program must contact the office for further instruction.

The RCIA course is offered in Spanish at the parish during September through April. More information can be obtained by contacting the parish office.
